The Tsukuyomi Residence is the current residence of Tsukuyomi Komoe, the teacher of Kamijou Touma at A Certain Highschool. Her room at the end of the hallway, on the second floor of an old-style apartment building.

As with Komoe's personality, she would often allow vagrant students an indefinite amount of time in her apartment until they are ready to leave.^[1]

Appearance and CharacterisiticsEdit

The apartment complex doesn't have its own bathroom which forces Komoe to go to one of the two public houses nearby.^[2] The outside of Komoe's room is similar to other rooms in the building, however her door is reinforced against newspaper salespersons.^[3]

Going inside brings one immediately to the kitchen which is connected to the main room. The main room inside is in the style of traditional Japanese homes, with tatami mats and sliding panels. There is also a sliding glass door that leads to a balcony. The main room is fairly spacious, though it would be often covered in various trash like beer cans and cigarette butts, giving the image that the space in the room is small. The main room is also the place where Komoe eats and sleeps in her futon.^[4]

Near the end of the Index Arc, Komoe's roof is destroyed by Index's Dragon Breath. The roof has yet to be repaired and Komoe currently uses a tarp to cover the ceiling in the anime,^[5] and plywood in the original light novel.^[1]

Index ArcEdit

Komoe's house is first seen during the Index Arc; Touma chose Komoe as the person to help Index heal herself, as he was the person he thought of that wasn't a student and therefore wasn't part of the Power Curriculum Program. Here, it is revealed that her room is filled with beer cans and cigarette butts, indicating Komoe's lifestyle and age, despite her appearance. During the healing ceremony, Komoe's room was used by Index as a temporary temple to call forth an angel, as so to heal her.

The room is seen again after Touma collapsed before Kanzaki Kaori. Both Kaori and Stiyl Magnus visit Komoe's room, during the appointed time to erase Index's memories. The roof of Komoe's room is later destroyed by Index's Dragon Breath, and is notable as the place where Touma lost his memories in the aftermath.

Sisters ArcEdit

Komoe's apartment is revisited during the Sisters Arc. Here, Himegami Aisa is already living with Komoe and is sharing a meal with her; Index later arrives because Touma has not come home yet and she has become hungry. During this arc, Komoe explains to Index on how students in Academy City acquires their abilites^[6].

Later events in the novelsEdit

Musujime Awaki later moves in with Komoe in a later volume of the novels.

Toaru Kagaku no RailgunEdit

Komoe mentions to Tessou Tsuzuri that the roof of her room was destroyed by a certain student, in episode 17 of the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun anime; and with the appearance of Aisa with the cross necklace of Necessarius as her necklace, this would indicate that both the Index and Deep Blood Arcs have already been concluded^[7].
