The Semi-Open AR (Augmented Reality) (半公開型AR?) is a type of AR system that allows anyone to access information anywhere in a city without the use of any personal devices.

The Semi-Open AR
The Semi-Open AR was somehow by unknown method applied to the roads, walls, and signs in a city that effectively make them into giant monitors. The general goal had been to turn the city’s scenery and terrain into a giant touchscreen and that ingenious idea had been carried out on the buildings, pillars, and other structures. The buildings came in various forms with some flat and some curved, but none of them tried to look distinct with indentations or protrusions. All of the buildings seemed smooth. Though Misaka Mikoto described it as having an effect of it hurting her eyes from not being used to it.[1] It also seems if damaged complex static spread across the former surface and around it.[2]
A persons skin, hair, and eye colors are taken from the photo for their ID they had taken when you entered the city this is also used to give a person an account Semipublic AR.
Many different services are offered to those walking through the city by having the various pieces of information they want added on to the scenery from displaying maps, directions, traffic lights, signs and crosswalk signals are all displayed using it. A person interacts using a keyboard-like touch window to display on a nearby surface. The Semi-Open AR's shop advertisements in the electronic display is set to be isolated at a high level in the so the other people can’t see it so that another person would only see some other advertisement. A person can get around this by bringing thier face up against another person so the height and distance of the eyes are the same, they can actually see what would normally be blurred beyond recognition.[1]
Another use for the AR is checked on the user’s location, that also meant that the person’s location could be checked on by the cities security though a lone person not using it will still stand out.[3]
