Kushiro Katabira (釧路 帷子, Kushiro Katabira^?) is a minor character in Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. She is Level 4 esper and makes her first appearance in the anime.

Appearance

She has long black hair, but her most striking feature is her sanpaku eyes.

Background

She is a Level 4 esper who in the anime adaptation used the Level Upper for reasons unknown and consequently fell into a coma (in the manga, this is only implied) on July 10 of the current year of the timeline.

She is first mentioned by Shirai Kuroko as the most likely suspect in the recent graviton bombings going around the city; however, during this time, she was in a coma since eight days ago, which gives her an alibi.

Katabira officially appears in Episode 14 of the anime, where she joins other Level Upper users in a special class; here, she seems to prefer to be alone.

Abilities

Her ability is Synchrotron (量子変速 (シンクロトロン) , Ryōshi Hensoku (Shinkurotoron)^?, lit. "Quantum Shift"), which is said to be similar to Kaitabi Hatsuya's ability. She is assumed to be able to make bombs out of aluminum items just like Hatsuya.

Trivia

• She was a Level 4 ability user before she used the Level Upper, which makes her the highest-leveled of the named characters to have ever used it.
