The Kamijou Residence is the current residence of Kamijou Touma, the main protagonist of Toaru Majutsu no Index. Located on the seventh storey of an 8-storey student dormitory for boys in district 7 of Academy City, one can get access to the floor via elevator or stairs.

Appearance and CharacteristicsEdit

ExteriorEdit

Touma's family name can be seen outside of his room, written on a plate, to designate his ownership of it. The doors have an auto-lock system, although for Touma in particular his is brand new after the events in the Index Arc.^[2]

The back of the building also has a balcony for Touma's room, though since the distance between two balconies is only two meters apart it is easy to move from balcony-to-balcony; it can be accessed by entering the room and sliding open the glass door.^[3]

InteriorEdit

Interior is rather spacious, having enough space for a one-person bed as well as a coffee table and television, the room also contains a refrigerator and enough space for bookshelves, where Touma keeps his books and manga. There is also a kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen is the door which leads to the laundry room and the bathroom.

It seems that the walls of a room is not thick enough to drown out the sounds of adjacent rooms, as Tsuchimikado Maika warns Touma after she moves in with his step-brother temporarily that it might get noisy later in the night.^[4]

ChronologyEdit

Toaru Majutsu no IndexEdit

The room makes it's first appearance in Toaru Majutsu no Index, where the only resident was Touma. However, after the Index Arc and having the church allow Index to live with Touma - along with Touma's memory loss, Index becomes a resident. This forced Touma to sleep in the baththub, after Index takes control of his bed, and because he is still is a boy locks himself in the bathroom at night to prevent himself from doing something that shouldn’t be done because whenever Index gets to the point where she’s in a deep sleep, she’ll open the lock and go to Kamijou’s side.

After the Deep Blood Arc, Aisa Himegami pays a visit to Touma's room and helps Index with the fleas Sphynx has gotten. During the Sisters Arc, it is revealed that Tsuchimikado Motoharu is a neighbor of Touma, and is warned by Motoharu's step-sister, Maika that they might be some noise from them later in the evening. Misaka 10032 visits Touma's dormitory to help him carry the juices that he procured illegally from a broken vending machine with Misaka Mikoto. She later visits Touma's dormitory again to ask for his help in Volume 8.

In Volume 5, Yamisaka Ouma have found this place easily and broke the glass doors while entering to look for Index. Assumbly from Chapter 1 in Volume 6, after being defeated he returned with Touma to leave Index behind in Touma's room before leaving Academy City to fight the magician who casted a curse, and to fix the windows Yamisaka broke.

Later in the volume 16, Itsuwa moves in with Touma temporarily as she becomes his bodyguard. She moved out after Acqua of the Back was defeated.
