"Sogiita Gunha - first try. At this stage, I had a very poor grasp of his character, and it shows. After it became clear I had to draw a second version, I asked Kamachi-san various things about Sogiita's character. What I got from him was "guts" and "Less of an urban delinquent and more of a rural delinquent". With that in mind, I made the second version below.
Sogiita Gunha - second try. And the next thing I knew, I had this. The concept I was working off of was a (mistaken) Showa era banchou. In the text, he's a hot-blooded character overflowing in Shimamoto-ism who would confirm his friendship with his rival with a fistfight in a dry river bed and the sunset at his back, so my first design really didn't fit him at all.." ―Kiyotaka Haimura
