Aleister Crowley (アレイスター＝クロウリー Areisutā Kurōrī?) (12 October 1875–1 December 1947 officially), born Edward Alexander Crowley (エドワード=アレクサンダー=クロウリー Edowādo Arekusandā Kurōrī), is the founder, leader, and General Superintendent (統括理事長 Toukatsu Rijichou?, lit. "General Superintendent") of Academy City who holds power greater than that of the Board of Directors. He is referred to as the greatest magician in history and magic's greatest embarrassment, who had quit magic in order to analyze science and technology. He is the de facto leader of the Science Side as the ruler of Academy City, and his actions and plans continually subvert the magic side and often move the actions of the protagonists.
In the novels, his appearance is described as someone who "looks like an adult, yet also a child; like a man, yet also a woman; like a saint, yet also a criminal". However, in all his appearances, Aleister looks like a tall effeminate-looking man with long white hair. In all of his appearances in the present day, he wears a green hospital gown and is always barefooted.
Many of the alternative versions of himself which manifested after the possibilities sealed within his body branched out, appear like various impressions left by his appearance isolated and embodied; man, woman, child, adult, saint, sinner and so on.
The main form of Aleister featured following the events on December 11th, one of his many alternative possibilities, is that of a young girl, estimated by Kamijou Touma to be around Misaka Mikoto's age or younger. Her most notable traits are her unhealthily pale skin and long silver hair. She wears a pale blue double blazer uniform, a black cloak and a witch-like hat. There are silver decorations on either side of the hat looking like curled horns or crescent moons, and silver-shining metal on the back of the cloak looking like bat wings or narrowed eyes. She also has a dark broom, one end pointed and the other end having twisting branches like a tree, with silver star-shaped decorations hanging from the branches and a silver band just before the branches.
Aleister Crowley exudes an aura of levelheadedness, and most often talks in an incredibly cryptic manner. The man's personality is that of one who doesn't show many overt expressions, but still possesses emotions, like smiling during interesting events, such as when he questioned on what existence the Imagine Breaker would prove. He is shown to be a mastermind behind many things, manipulating several coincidences for Kamijou Touma and Accelerator, key cores in his plans, to fall into, like allowing Touma to be used by Stiyl Magnus, or Accelerator forcibly being inputted with the numerical settings of the AIM diffusion fields. He has many plans running parallel and seemingly abandoning one plan in favor of another if it fails; though the act of doing so, with the apparent disbanding of one enabling the execution of another or even the original purpose of the plan benefiting from its discontinuation, could still be a facade. According to Musujime Awaki, his plans are probably beyond what anyone can think of, and in his eyes, even the planet might only be a resource for use and discarding.
However, Aiwass says that he is not a perfect human, and that the plans that he has woven are falling apart in the seams, such as the continued existence of Hamazura Shiage. He has also shown anger and hesitation, as with what happened to Leivinia Birdway, having a few strands of her hair cut-off after taunting Aleister of the unraveling of his plans. Aleister has conflicting desires in his heart, making him a valid target for World Rejecter.
According to Kihara Noukan, Aleister has a habit of trying to sound rational when he's handling everything through emotion. In the past, despite having been a coldheart pragmatist, rejecting human emotion as impure and cursing the imperfections of mankind, he had gone on passionate rampages, married a woman and had a daughter, and kept a journal. On the day his daughter died, he apparently left a tear stain in his journal, and when given the opportunity to become a Magic God, rejected it and chose to remain as a human in the same realm as his family.
Aleister bears a thorough hatred for gods, having come to look down on the god who created the world so easily fooled and unable to punish liars at a young age. His wish to find the rules and answers that god could not and make the world a better place is what started him down his path, and likely influenced his later work. The Magic Gods' involvement in his daughter's death only added to this hatred.
Due to the many setbacks in his life, Aleister is quite aware that things often won't work out the way he wants, and as such set up his plan so that everything would converge on a single path not matter what crises befall him. Despite setting up his plan to be a perfect one, he doesn't wholeheartedly wish for it to be so and has cursed it at least once, thinking it to be little different from what the Magic Gods do.
Aleister's childhood was not a particularly happy one. His Christian parents, who held belief in God and influential positions in the town, refused to listen or understand him, and considered him stupid for his lack of belief. Rather than protecting or caring for the boy as a parent should, they were more focused on ensuring that he acted "proper". They sent him to a strict boarding school, believing that it would place in him the strict spirit and understanding of God's teaching they desired. Not fitting in there, he was repeatedly mocked, criticized and persecuted by both his teachers and the other children at the school. Finding the town a horrible place, the young Aleister grew bitter and frustrated, scornful of the people around him who proclaimed themselves believers and righteous yet acted so foolish and disgracefully.
As a result of his experiences, Aleister developed a strong contempt for the god who was believed to have created the world, one that was easily fooled and could not punish liars, such as the adults responsible for his suffering, who despite their true natures appeared nice on the surface and as such held influential positions in the town, being treated like perfect role models. He concluded that reading the bible would not lead to the truth, and that when one cast aside their own thoughts and blindly believed the teachings of those who came before, they would only gain the disgraceful behavior exhibited by his tormentors. He decided to find the proper rules and answers which that god could not in order to make the world a better place. To that end, he sought to reclaim the true path that he considered lost due to foolish blind belief. This desire would eventually lead him down the path of magic.
As a young man, in the last years of the 19th century, Aleister was making progress as a magician. Around this time, witch hunts and propaganda from the church towards magicians had died away, replaced with attacks from the early newspapers. The presence of people who remade old witch rituals with sex and drugs was another reason why this age was fairly shameful for magicians. Although Aleister was involved in this kind of activity, unlike the others who had merely used the former as an excuse for the latter, he was logically and efficiently achieving results with it.
At the time, the world's largest magic cabal was the Golden Dawn, which sought a unified theory to explain the truths of the world. With one of the founders having retired due to old age, there was internal competition between the two remaining founders; William Wynn Westcott and Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers. The two had conflicting views on how the cabal and magic should proceed as they worked towards their ultimate goal of discovering a unified theory and constructing a magic work kit that would bring endless possibilities for magicians. Being of an older age, Westcott advocated tradition and saw a need to compromise, while Mathers wished to see progress, even if it meant going into areas considered taboo and heretical at the time. Mathers in particular wanted his name to be the one associated with the products of the Golden Dawn's research and sought to overwrite the individual pieces the other members had constructed with ones of his own. The Golden Dawn was divided between them, though neither faction had complete control over the organization as a whole.
Recognizing Aleister's abilities and potential, Mathers scouted him and invited him into the Golden Dawn, intending to use the young man's talents for his own purposes. Westcott was reluctant to have Aleister join the cabal and others held similar sentiments. Shortly after he entered the cabal, Aleister performed a Telesma summoning ceremony in the presence of the two founders, the results of which reinforced their own sentiments.
Despite being a relatively new member in the Golden Dawn, Aleister Crowley developed countless spells and spiritual items during his time in the cabal. Some of his ideas, such as the Aeons, were considered extreme even for the Golden Dawn and as such there were a fair number of people who didn't support them. Aleister didn't have many friends within the cabal and most of his allies had their own reasons for doing so. However there was one man who approached Aleister without ulterior motives; Allan Bennett, a friend and teacher whom Aleister would call his one true mentor. Bennett would teach Aleister Spiritual Tripping, which would become one of Aleister's specialties and his primary offensive magic, as well as the secrets of his Blasting Rod, the true power of which Bennett had disguised so as not to draw unwanted attention from the likes of Mathers and Westcott. Bennett was also capable of divining the future and one of his prophecies would greatly affect Aleister's path.
In April 1900, Aleister met with Bennett at his apartment, where his teacher foretold the future death of Aleister's first daughter at a young age from illness. Bennett explained to Aleister about the phenomena connected to this event; the 'sparks' produced from the collisions of the phases, which affect the balance of fortune and misfortune, and subtly influence the lives and fates of people across the world. He also described how the usage of magic increases the phase collisions and cause more of these sparks, particularly with magic based on unified theories such as the Golden Dawn's Hermetic-based magic. He confirmed to Aleister that the Golden Dawn were aware of the dangers of this phenomena and that their activities were contributing to it but continued regardless, with Mathers considering that as it could not be measured it might as well not exist, and an unspoken understanding that they would be safe as long as they possessed the protection of Blythe Road's Treasure.
With Aleister resolving to take action against the Golden Dawn for the sake of his future daughter, Allan talked of how those who would survive being struck down by Aleister's power in the coming war would be cursed to live a life where every choice they made would end in failure. Allan warned Aleister that if he was to curse and destroy the Golden Dawn, he would eventually have to turn the fangs he bared towards them on himself and swallow the poison he had concocted, bearing the same fate as those he had cursed. He also warned him that he could choose to compromise, but if he did then his feelings would grow dull and rusted, and his vengeance would lose its purity. Having given Aleister everything that he needed and with Aleister understanding the consequences, Allan told Aleister to kill him, as he too was a member of the Golden Dawn. Aleister reluctantly complied, shooting his teacher in the head with a Spiritual Tripping flintlock gun. Allan didn't resist, telling his friend to take care with his last words.
Aleister subsequently launched an attack on Mathers and a magical battle ensued, with both sides being evenly matched. Angered by Aleister's rebellion, Mathers called him a fool for not sticking with him to receive the scraps of his success and argued that Aleister could avoid his daughter's death by simply not having one to begin with. Aleister responded by questioning Mathers' own reasons for marrying Mina and his look enraged Mathers further. The battle then ended as Mathers' reinforcements arrived, including Dion Fortune, Paul Foster Case, Arthur Edward Waite and Robert William Felkin. Remarking on Mathers' true authoritarian nature, Aleister retreated, but he had achieved his real objective; obtaining a sample of Mathers' blood.
Having used Mathers' blood to forge a document with his supposed orders, just as Westcott forged a letter from Anna Sprengel to give the cabal prestige during its foundation, Aleister proceeded to 36 Blythe Road, Hammersmith, the Golden Dawn's most important ceremonial ground. What followed was the Battle of Blythe Road, which would come to be regarded as a crucial but quiet turning point of history by magic researchers. Aleister forced his way into the building, swept aside the magicians maintaining and inspecting the equipment, sealed the exits and holed up inside. He also stole a number of tools from the armory, including the spiritual item referred to as Blythe Road's Treasure, an arrow made out of a right hand bearing Imagine Breaker. While in the office, he was contacted by Mathers via Automatic Writing and revealed his intentions in making the Westcott faction believe Mathers ordered Aleister to occupy Blythe Road. As Aleister had hoped, Mathers was soon confronted by a furious Westcott at his headquarters and unable to prove to him how Aleister had framed him, as the two were in front of their subordinates and couldn't openly discuss or accept Westcott's forgery without compromising their own positions.
Aleister's actions triggered a war between the Mathers and Westcott factions within the Golden Dawn which raged in the darkness of London. Aleister didn't expect or intend for one faction to wipe the other out, taking advantage of the chaos to sneak in and attack members of both sides to fulfill his revenge. Whenever he killed a magician, he planted evidence pointing to the other side being responsible, resupplying from fallen enemies along the way. As the war escalated, further openings arose along with opportunities to secretly enter areas normally unreachable. Eventually an opportunity arose for Aleister to take out the founders and he killed Westcott with the arrow, Imagine Breaker rendering his quasi-immortality useless.
He then turned his attention to Mathers who had witnessed Westcott's death. After Mathers argued that he could have remade his daughter as many times as necessary, Aleister threw the arrow at him. Mathers managed to repel and destroy it, at the cost of his arm and many of his symbolic weapons. However in focusing on protecting himself from the arrow, he made the fatal mistake of not paying attention to his real enemy, Aleister, who took advantage of the opening and struck the self-styled highlander down with a claymore manifested through Spiritual Tripping, bringing his curse down upon him. As Aleister expressed his anger and sorrow at not only his daughter's future death but also the tragedies filling the world and how people give up rather than stand against them, Mathers managed to set off a few more explosions at point-blank range, but ultimately Aleister was the one left standing. Having destroyed the leaders of the Golden Dawn, Aleister declared that he would wipe out all magic, shatter every last phase and put an end to all mysticism, remaking the world where people accept these tragedies as mere cruel coincidences and bury them saying they can't be helped, and bringing back the pure world where people aren't manipulated without their knowledge.
The conflict ignited by Aleister, along with the deaths and cursing of the founders and many other members, caused the Golden Dawn's collapse, though it was not a clear and decisive end. The large organization broke apart into many smaller cabals claiming to be its successor, but they all declined and none of them reclaimed the Golden Dawn's former glory. Many people would attempt to revive the Golden Dawn but all of those attempts were doomed to failure, just as foretold. Aleister spent a long time afterwards hunting down the remnants.
Rose and LilithEdit
Some time after he destroyed the Golden Dawn, Aleister met his future wife, Rose Edith Kelly. In their initial meeting, Aleister remarked that she looked upset and asked if he could cheer her up by inviting her to the starry sky. During this period of courtship, Aleister suppressed his more egotistic and perverted side, acting like a gentleman around her. However after their marriage, Aleister stopped restraining himself and hiding his magical research from Rose, who subsequently became his assistant, accompanying him on his journeys around the world.
In 1904, while in Egypt, Aleister made contact with the entity known as Aiwass, using his wife as a medium. Summoned into Rose's body, Aiwass conveyed secrets to Aleister through her which he would compile into the Book of the Law. This grimoire would form the foundation of Thelema and according to Aleister, its creation marked the end of the Aeon of Osiris and the dawn of the Aeon of Horus. The exact contents of the book remained unknown to most of the world, however the theories which Aleister brought about with it were sensational enough to blow away not just the Golden Dawn's foundational theories but also the new theories which Mathers had planned to build by hijacking them. At the time, Rose was pregnant and unknown to both parents, Aiwass carried out actions concerning the unborn child's fate which would only become apparent later on.
Not long afterwards, Aleister and Rose's first daughter Lilith was born. Obsessed with his daughter, Aleister read the stars to determine the name he would give his daughter, one which carried meaning and ended up being very long (Nuit Ma Ahathoor Hecate Sappho Jezebel Lilith Crowley). During this time, the happiest in Aleister's life, he temporarily stopped his magical research to assist with the birth and to protect his unstable wife and daughter afterwards.
Having halted his research to focus on ensuring his family's safety, once their condition had stabilized, Aleister resumed his work to find a way to avert Lilith's foretold death. In order to make up for lost time, he went on a journey to a great mountain in order to achieve a certain objective. However while he was there, away from his family, the effects of 'sparks' from the clashing phases resulted in Lilith's sudden death from illness, just as foretold. Aleister only learned of his daughter's death by letter once he had finished his task at the mountain. He had wished for his daughter's happiness more than anyone, but had not been allowed to come running and be with her in her last moments. On that day, Aleister left a single tearstain in his diary.
Lilith's death was the beginning of Aleister's fall, a trigger great enough for the "human" to hate and curse the destiny of the entire world. Thoroughly giving up on the laws which he had cursed since childhood, Aleister sought to strike back against that which had taken his daughter and torn his family apart. He continued to plot the destruction of the phases and all magic, in order to free humanity from their influence, believing he would only then have truly fulfilled his duty as a father. Unknown to Aleister however, Aiwass had intervened when he possessed Rose's body and taken steps while Lilith was in the womb to ensure that her essence would be taken to the safety of another phase until circumstances would allow her to survive when returned.
At some point after Lilith's death, Rose would break and subsequently leave Aleister. Aleister would marry multiple times afterwards and also had mistresses. He had other children, among them his second daughter Lola, though Lilith remained his favorite and at the forefront of his mind.
In 1909, Aleister had another major encounter during a trip to Africa. While looking for ways to move between sephira, he had discovered an abyss between them, one which could not be passed through even when binding Tarot cards with a path. Aleister intended to find another way to pass through this abyss in order to cross between sephira and carried out a summoning experiment in the African desert in order to do so. Having found that the approach from Loch Ness experiment didn't really suit him, Aleister used a magic circle created from the blood of three doves which would have an immediate effect. He sought to become one with the abyss so as not to take spiritual damage while passing through it to accomplish his goal.
The entity that appeared before him during this experiment was the demon known as Coronzon. Unknown to Aleister, this demon had been previously summoned by Mathers during the downfall of the Golden Dawn and given one command; to pretend to have been summoned by Aleister Crowley and then guide him to ruin. Not contained within the existing Qliphoth, Coronzon broke through Aleister's attempts to bind it and temporarily hijacked his body as an avatar. Fortunately for Aleister, he was using his apprentice, Victor Neuburg, as a breaker in the ritual. The breaker functioned perfectly and the demon was driven away. Though he likely gave up crossing the abyss after this event, this spectacular failure apparently got him more fired up, not knowing the truth behind the encounter.
After failing to hijack Aleister's body, Coronzon subsequently hid within a mountain of papyrus and travelled from northern Africa to England. It later secretly possessed the body of Aleister's second daughter, Lola, who tearfully pleaded for her father as the demon took her. Bound to follow the contract even after Mathers was killed, Coronzon would continue to plot Aleister's ruin and manipulate events under the identity of Lola Stuart and acting as the Archbishop of Necessarius.
Between Lilith's death and 1947, Aleister journeyed across the world while attempting to continue his magical research towards his goal. He was deported at various points during this time and was ultimately unable to establish a permanent or long-term base for major magical research. Despite this, most modern-day Western magic is judged to have come from his work. Aside from the Book of the Law, he wrote a number of other grimoires, including Moonchild in 1917, Book 4 and Liber 777.
A general unemployed eccentric and unrestrained magician, Aleister was a magnet for controversy, earning the ire of many, both magicians and non-magicians. At one point, around the time when the Paris police were covering the crotches of naked male sculptures, he stole one of the butterfly decorations used for the task and wore it over his trousers to a party.
At some point during his journeys across Asia, Aleister coincidentally visited Japan and saw a Kamakura-era Buddhist temple. The sight of the large Buddha statue there left quite an impact on him and according to some stories, he tried to change his religion on the spot. At another point, he had attempted to climb K2 with no extra oxygen supply.
From 1920 to 1923, Aleister was active on the island of Sicily in Italy. While there, he established the Temple of Thelema to share his knowledge. Around this time, certain methods were used involving the use of drugs with adolescent minds to induce paranormal phenomena, which would eventually be used in Academy City's Power Curriculum Program. However the temple collapsed following an accident due to a mistake made while treating the sick.
At some point during his earlier years, Aleister had run into a dead end in his research and like many European magicians, took a trip across the Mediterranean to Africa. While in Egypt, he incorporated the names of Isis, Osiris and Horus into his concept of Aeons, eliciting a laugh from the Magic God Nephthys.
During his past, as the world's most powerful magician and a king of man, Aleister Crowley had the potential to become a Magic God and a member of the true Gremlin; however he rejected becoming a Magic God and chose to remain as a human, remaining in the same realm as his family without giving up on anything. He came to despise the Magic Gods, due to their nature and their connection to the phenomena responsible for Lilith's death.
Standing at the pinnacle of the magic world as the strongest magician on the planet, Aleister Crowley announced that he would give up the magic he developed and start over again, analyzing science and technology. This was seen as the greatest insult to the magic world, for the strongest magician in the world to give up magic and switch to science, as if to say that magic was inferior. As a result, Aleister Crowley became the enemy of all magicians in the world. Among the people trying to kill him, there were not just specialists like Necessarius, but also people the least related to magic.
On December 1st 1947, Aleister's pursuers were closing in on him in the British countryside. Having hunted down every last magician of the Golden Dawn, in accordance with the rules he had set when he had destroyed the cabal, he turned his own blade on himself, and received the curse of failure, collapsing like a burst bag. To most of the world, this was where he died.
However, Aleister was actually saved by Heaven Canceller who sewed him back together and sheltered him from the United Kingdom. The doctor would later provide Aleister with his life support system, guide him towards Japan and help him create the plans for Academy City.
Following his 'death', Aleister would secretly come to Japan in order to make his comeback. His choice was influenced by the doctor who supported and transported him when he was near-death, as well as his memories from his previous visit, and having lost interest in Paris and Sicily. It was only a few years since World War II and the country had not yet recovered, giving Aleister the opportunity to construct an institution in western Tokyo in the name of educational and technological recovery. He also considered the nature of the locals, which he had glimpsed in the temple, ideal for constructing a scientific and academic city cut off from the occult. Aleister made sure that it would everything he would need, including room for further growth. Thus, Academy City was born.
Around this time, Aleister also developed the master plan which he would follow for more than 50 years afterwards. Having experienced failure before and now being cursed to suffer it, Aleister devised his plan, modeled after his own Thelema, the will within his soul, so that regardless of success and failure at any step along the way, events would ultimately proceed in one direction towards fulfilling his goal. One of the main elements in this plan was the Imagine Breaker, which Aleister had lost when the arrow which held it was destroyed in 1900. In order to draw it in once it resurfaced, Aleister modeled Academy City's set-up after the Thelema of the wielder yet to be born, such that it would become an environment in which the Imagine Breaker would thrive. Additionally, Aleister's life-support system gave him an estimated 1700 years of extended lifespan in which to carry out this plan. At some point, Aleister would have the Windowless Building constructed as both a base and a ship that would allow him to reach outer space for the final stages of the plan.
For the next sixty or so years, Aleister would operate from the shadows as the ruler of Academy City, working to bring his plan to fruition. During this time, as the enemy of all magic, he created a new term, the Science Side, drawing a line between Magic and Science using the Archetype Controller and dividing the world between the two. With this development, modern science robbed the occult of its legitimacy and made scientific investigation and examinations the symbol of "correctness", winning widespread acceptance and spreading a mentality akin to science worship, in which the scientific was considered correct and scientific data absolute. Though both were actually part of a world which could be explained under a single unified theory, Aleister succeeded in making it look as though they were two different worlds. At some point after he divided the world in two, he established a treaty between the Magic Side and Science Side, which prohibited either side from using the other's techniques and interfering in the other's affairs, though he secretly still made use of his magical techniques.
Though most of the Magic Side believed Aleister Crowley was dead and buried, Necessarius maintained a Crowley-specific post to deal with magicians and cabals claiming to be his successors and using his magical system, and for the possibility of his rumored survival (which Lola Stuart was quite aware was the case). This post had a spiritual item which was set to search for him individually, though his life-support system prevented it from detecting him. Despite still calling himself Aleister, and allowing a few magicians to meet him at times, hardly anyone figured out that he was actually Aleister Crowley. This was in part due to Aleister deliberately leaking false information concerning himself. Since the original information was wrong, magical and scientific means to track him down wouldn't find connections to the real Aleister Crowley. As such, the Anglican Church was led to assume that his name was just a common name between the two or maybe even a false name. He kept most of the truth concerning himself, his plan and his base hidden, with all that was known to most people being merely composed of information presented by him.
At some point during this time, Aleister brought over a billion of his alternative possibilities into the world, without having thought it through, and ended up having to bind all of these other selves to his body, with his life-support system being used to prevent them from diffusing. At another point in time, he took measures so that he wouldn't end up becoming a Magic God. While attempting to reach the pure world beyond the phases, Aleister would also make preparations in order to locate and eliminate the Magic Gods themselves, who were impediments to his plan.

Deep Blood ArcEdit

Aleister is first introduced to in the series in the beginning of the Deep Blood Arc. As the Cult of Science invades Misawa Cram School and abducts Himegami Aisa, Aleister Crowley originally planned on Academy City getting rid of the cult itself. However, since the arrival of Aureolus Izzard and his taking over of Misawa Cram School, the situation has become complicated, as the science side cannot simply intervene with the actions of the magic side, else it will disrupt the balance between the two sides. Aleister invited the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Church to send in representatives to take down Aureolus, as such the Thirteen Knights and Stiyl Magnus was dispatched as the respective representatives for their churches. However Aleister did not tell either side there will be forces apart from themselves, leading the Thirteen Knights and Stiyl entering separately and resulting in the deaths of at least one of the Thirteen Knights.
As Stiyl Magnus meets Aleister, he suggests to Stiyl to use Kamijou Touma, the Imagine Breaker to aid him in the mission, citing that he is simply a level 0, a powerless person and that he will not be able to leak information from both sides. Stiyl highly doubts his reasoning as Touma's power defies understanding of both sides (or so he thinks) and no way is Touma a true "powerless" Level 0 like Aleister claims. It is even explained that it is almost like Aleister is deliberately giving Touma trials to overcome like the Saints of ancient times. At the end of their meeting, he ponders that if Deep Blood proves the existence of vampires what existence does Imagine Breaker prove.
Kazakiri Hyouka ArcEdit

Tsuchimikado Motoharu gets himself transported to Aleister's place by Awaki's ability to talk about the magician who has entered Academy City, Sherry Cromwell. Tsuchimikado Motoharu berates Aleister for allowing her to enter the city, and volunteers to stop her, citing that since he is from the magic side, it will cause less of an uproar, however, he notes to Aleister that it would be the end of his spying days. Aleister however tells him that there is no need for Motoharu to take action as he has already plans of his own that would shorten a few of his plans and allow him to easily control the restless horse that is the Imaginary Number District. Motoharu realizes what he is doing is use Kamijou Touma again, much to his disgust. In the end, Motoharu could not help the situation. Motoharu asks if he could really avoid war from breaking out due to this incident, to which Aleister states to him that it is his job to work behind the scenes, and tells him not to worry, if he works hard enough, they will end the conflict without anyone losing their lives, much to Motoharu's chagrin.
After the defeat of Sherry Cromwell, Motoharu visits Aleister again to air his grievances, asking if he is happy for using people as chess pieces, getting the Key of the Imaginary Number District, and completing a part of his plan. Motoharu points out in his disbelief that the Imaginary Number District is apparently the aggregation of the AIM diffusion fields of all the espers in Academy City, as well as the fact that he shaped it into a form of a human. Aleister tells Motoharu that it is a tactic to help control the Imaginary District even more easily. Instead of letting it be in a selfless state of not knowing what to do, Aleister let it be able to think, making it easier to predict some actions, and even use it for negotiations or coercion. Motoharu asks if he could handle creating a person that turned out to be a villain, to which Aleister answers that villains are easier to control than good people. The difference between these two is only in the method used one handle them. Motoharu then asks if there is any meaning to doing all this just to get the Imaginary Number District, warning him of the magic side not being easy after what happened with Sherry. However, Aleister says that if he had managed to attain the Imaginary Number District, there would be no need to fear magicians.
As Motoharu ponders his words, he discovers a part of what Aleister is thinking, and demands to know if he is making an Artificial Heaven. Motoharu warns Aleister that if the Anglican Church discovers this they will surely declare war, pitying Sherry for being manipulated because she only thought that she was protecting her own world. Aleister tells Motoharu not to be paranoid, as he does not intend to fight the Church, and tells him that these terms such as heaven is beyond him as it is the business of the magic side. However, Motoharu points out as if he was insulted, that nobody knows more about magic than anyone else except him, Aleister Crowley, the magician.
Before leaving, Motoharu gives Aleister advice, and asks him if he knows something about the term hard luck, and tells him that it means that no matter how many times one meets a hellish fate, the person is lucky enough to overcome it safely. Motoharu tells him that he has no idea what he is planning, but warns him that if he continues using the Imagine Breaker, then he should ready himself not to treat him halfheartedly, for surely, his right hand will eat his illusions alive. As Motoharu leaves him alone in that Windowless Building, Aleister tells that all his illusions were destroyed a long time ago.

After the Science Association is destroyed by Yomikawa Aiho, Musujime Awaki is in a bit of a conundrum, as she cannot exactly return the remnant of the Tree Diagram to Aleister, as he has not use nor care for it, and on the contrary would impede on his plans to use the Misaka clones.

Because of the danger posed to the balance of the magic side by the Stab Sword, Laura Stuart contacts the General Supervisor of Academy City, Aleister, to help with the situation. Here, she reveals to Aleister the Stab Sword and its use, the relevant parties involved with the deal, and the place where the deal would made, Academy City. As a response to this, Aleister allows Laura to send out operatives who have friendly relations with Academy City (more likely because of Kamijou Touma), due to the volatile politics involved with sending out magicians to operate in Academy City, as many other factions would want to get involved in the operation themselves. Aleister becomes excited after breaking with Laura, saying that they might have to use Touma as the guide for the city.
After the events of the arc, even with the events of the Croce di Pietro being settled with the help of Kamijou Touma. With the increasingly aggressive movements of the Roman Catholic Church, Aleister Crowley becomes more restless while inspecting the Radio Noise clones distributed around the world. With the Imagine Breaker still unstable, Aleister is forced to consider the possibility of taking action personally and prepares his own weapon, the Blasting Rod.

Although not appearing himself, it is implied that he and the Anglican Church conspired to have Touma travel to Northern Italy in order to deal with the Roman Catholic Church's mobilization of the La Regina del Mare Adriatico.
Academy City Invasion ArcEdit
- Main article: Academy City Invasion Arc
Before the events of the arc, Aleister has already apparently prepared a script that allows Fuse KAZAKIRI and the Imaginary Number District in Earth.
At exactly 6:33 in the evening of September 30, Vento of the Front breaks into Academy City's Gate No. 3 immediately incapacitating the Anti-Skill and Judgment members on patrol due to Divine Punishment, which quickly spreads throughout the communication lines of the city trying to report about the intruder. With the city's defenses down, Vento of the Front manages to kill three of the General Board Directors.
With no one to stop her, Vento of the Front literally just walks into the city and later taunts Aleister Crowley who is monitoring normal communication channels as well. Introducing herself as Vento of the Front a member of God's Right Seat, she taunts Aleister regarding the weakness of his city's defenses, however, he warns her not to underestimate the city. Vento of the Front's conversation with him ends with her declaring the destruction of Academy City, Aleister Crowley, Index and the Imagine Breaker. Immediately after his conversation with Vento of the Front, Aleister Crowley orders Kihara Amata, commander of the Hound Dogs, to carefully capture Last Order alive as so they can use the Imaginary Number District and activate Fuse Kazakiri (with Kazakiri Hyouka already manifesting her form earlier in the afternoon) to destroy the enemy forces.
After following Touma's instructions on the phone, as to where Last Order's final whereabouts were, Accelerator comes upon a piece of clothed ripped from Last Order's clothes. He immediately gets a call from Kihara Amata himself, where he confirms Accelerator's worst fear, that he has acquired Last Order. In his call, Kihara Amata taunts Accelerator regarding the Testament machine inputting a virus into Last Order and the suffering that was induced on her because of it. However, Accelerator realizes that someone is controlling Kihara Amata for him to not risk hurting Last Order when retrieving her, because of this Accelerator calls out Amata's bluff and enrages him, ending their call. Accelerator realizes that Academy City and the General Board of Directors are the ones pulling the strings behind Kihara Amata, and can easily pick one of them to find where Kihara Amata is. Angered by the fact that Academy City is using him, Accelerator once again uses esper mode which had barely four minutes of power left. Here, he set his sights on the main base of the General Chairman of Academy City, the Windowless Building, and using his esper powers launches a powerful attack on it that should be capable of obliterating any regular building. However, when he comes to after attacking the building, he realizes that the building remains intact and caught not a single scratch. This severely demoralizes Accelerator as his attack did nothing but squandered his batteries, however, he is forced to carry on and find Last Order.
With Last Order in Kihara Amata's clutches, he uses the Testament machine on Last Order to install a program that would force her to use the brainwave network of the Misaka clones (which renders them immobile) to help her manifest and control Fuse KAZAKIRI from Kazakiri Hyouka the manifestation of all of the AIM diffusions of espers in Academy City. Inside the Windowless Building, Aleister is unperturbed by Accelerator's attack on his base and continues to observe the Sisters from around the world, Vento of the Front and Kazakiri Hyouka. With the Imaginary Number District already materializing itself and creating pressure inside Academy City, all magicians that use magic inside the city will overload and injure themselves.
Ever since the installation of the virus, the changes are slowly becoming more tangible and continues to expand at an alarming rate. Suddenly, an explosive burst of light and sound occurs in the 7th School District with the shockwave that can be felt from afar. From the epicenter of the explosion a powerful energy begins to form, eventually creating an innumerable number of enormous streams of light that destroys anything that touches. Suddenly another phenomenon occurs, one of the enormous streams of light performs a destructive movement towards the outside of Academy City, destroying it and anything in its path. Kamijou Touma, Index, Accelerator, Misaka Mikoto, Tsuchimikado Motoharu, Vento of the Front, and Kihara Amata bear witness to the unusual phenomena that has occurred in the city. Touma, Index, Motoharu and Vento of the Front immediately recognize the power that has materialized in Academy City as an angel.
After the events of September 30, Aleister Crowley receives one final call from his friend, the Heaven Canceller, here, Aleister reveals that he has successfully inputted the with the numerical settings of the AIM diffusion fields into Accelerator, and in the process of making Accelerator, Last Order, and Kazakiri Hyouka as the Trinity, something that is beyond Level 6, otherwise there would be no reason for bringing the Imagine Breaker from the outside. However, Heaven Canceller tells Aleister to stop making his patients, notably Accelerator, Last Order, the clones, and Kamijou Touma his toys. Aleister does not agree with this, asking what he would do if he does not listen, and asks what he could do. Heaven Canceller says that he knows how he could stop Aleister, and reminds Aleister what he could do. However, he says that he is a doctor and he cannot stop being one, and reminds him that he saved his life, as if asking Aleister for a favor to stop meddling with his patients. Aleister recounts on how they met and how he was saved, and asks the Heaven Canceller regrets it, though Heaven Canceller feels insulted hearing that. Aleister tells the Heaven Canceller that now is the only time to remotely stop the life-support system. However, Heaven Canceller does not do it, and tells Aleister to finish his business with him as he feels that he is making a fool out of him. Aleister says that he will have to make an enemy out of him, like so many before him. Heaven Canceller asks if he has no plans in changing his intentions, to which Aleister answers that Heaven Canceller knows of his intentions and that he is already past the path of no return. After which he bids farewell to Heaven Canceller, his "very, very kind enemy", who still deems him as his patient.
Document of Constantine ArcEdit

Motoharu assumes that Aleister was the one who ordered the deployment of the HsPS-15 powered suits to determine if the Document of Constantine is present at the Palais des Papes, and then completely bomb the place using HsB-02 bombers. Motoharu laments Aleister's actions, believing that he should know better than use normal methods to get rid of things that concern the magic side. Motoharu however, believes that Aleister has something else in his sleeve. Of course, it is later revealed that the solution would be is to use Accelerator to make sure.
Battle Royale ArcEdit
- Main article: Battle Royale Arc
Aleister do not appear directly in the arc, however, his influence is clearly felt, with several of the actions and motivations of the factions fighting each other is due to Aleister. It is implied that Aleister is watching all that transpires during the arc using the UNDER_LINE.
Acqua of the Back ArcEdit
- Main article: Acqua of the Back Arc
Aleister Crowley appears at the end after Acqua of the Back's defeat and Fiamma of the Right appears before the world and attacks Pope Matthai Reese. Here, he is a bit bothered by the fact that due to Acqua of the Back's attack earlier, his UNDER_LINE surveillance network has collapsed. Here, he is shown a report regarding Kamijou Touma, whose Imagine Breaker has a 98% chance of affecting the plan. There, alongside the number 1 of Academy City, Accelerator, the main cogs for his main plan is under way.
- Main article: DRAGON Arc
It is revealed by the Girl in the dress that though Touma and Accelerator act in irregularly, it is still within the range of Aleister's plan. However, she reveals that Hamazura Shiage is an irregularity that Aleister could not wholly imagine, seeing as he should have died during the conflict between GROUP, SCHOOL, ITEM, MEMBER, and BLOCK, and had managed to even defeat Mugino Shizuri. This revelation shows that even Aleister cannot calculate everything perfectly.
Indeed, even Aiwass, who appears before Accelerator, tells him that Aleister is not a perfect human, and that his plans have already begun to come apart at the seams in a few places. With every irregular phenomenon Aleister himself brings about, he believes that he is recovering from it in a way that benefits his plan, but tiny cracks have started to spread bit by bit. At this rate, situations will develop from the plan he created that Aleister himself does not foresee. Here, Aleister is shown to have little trust over Aiwass, necessitating for him to install an anti-suicide function on him via Last Order.
Aiwass later contacts Aleister Crowley himself, here they discuss on how it took 50 years for Aleister to attain someone like Accelerator, as well as the differences between Touma and Accelerator themselves. Aiwass asks Aleister if he admires the two of them, though he does not respond. Aiwass points out that there are many different type of heroes, and tells him that they possess qualities that Aleister does not have, and is the reason why he admires them, the three heroes. Aleister tries to speak, but an odd distortion entered his voice. Then, Aleister delivers what he will do, and that is that he will use anything he can, including Aiwass. He tells him that even though he mocks at the fact that there are slight errors in his plan, he tells him that there is no guarantee that Aiwass' absolute authority will last forever.
Aiwass then says that he does not hold the power he has because he wished it, nor continue to hold it because he is working towards that end, in the end, he says that he will appear again when something interesting happens again.
World War III ArcEdit
- Main article: World War III Arc
As war breaks out, and Kamijou Touma heads to Elizalina Alliance of Independent Nations to stop Fiamma of the Right, Aleister gives a direct order in retrieving Kamijou Touma back to Academy City, keeping it best that he is alive. However, the order dictates that if he has sided with an external organization, he is to be promptly attacked and retrieved and kept within the same life support system as used for the Kakine Teitoku.
After Fiamma of the Right's defeat, Aleister Crowley himself, appears before him and severs his entire right arm. Fiamma of the Right immediately recognizes that he is Aleister Crowley, to which he responds that he is, and that the protection of his identity could not be kept in this state, as he uses his life support devices to mechanically create his life force which is the basis of magic power, that which allowed to slip pass all sort of surveillance and probes. Fiamma of the Right however, says that what he said does not explain why he is here. Aleister responds that there is nothing strange about it, and compares himself as a Secret Chief to Aiwass to Anna Sprengel, to which he seems to favor more than being the one who gives permission in founding of all magic cabals in the world. Aleister tells Fiamma of the Right that he is the same type of existence as Anna, and that he has surpassed the realm of only being expressible as 0 or 1. In simple terms, he exists in two places at once, there in the Windowless Building, and there, before Fiamma of the Right. He was now an existence that was higher than Fiamma of the Right who had declared he held the power needed to save all of humanity.
Fiamma of the Right asks why he could not do it, as he should have the power needed to save the world like the Son of God. Aleister points out that it was not an issue of the type or amount of power, it was more of an issue on how he used it. Aleister tells him that the age of Christianity was over the moment he completed the Book of the Law. He commends Fiamma of the Right for getting this far, including his objective of becoming La Persona Superiore a Dio. He tells Fiamma of the Right that instead of using the Aeon of Osiris where the laws under the Christian Church lies, he should have formatted it in the Aeon of Horus that lies beyond it, where he would have become in a similar position to him.
Fiamma then asks if Aiwass is such an attractive existence, an angel unexplained by the Bible or theology is a symbol that there are elements in the world that are outside the hands of God. He accuses Aleister that he did not want the Book of the Law, but simply the strange angel that granted him the Book of the Law. Aleister does not confirm or deny this, and tells Fiamma of the Right that he was not supposed to appear at this stage. He tells Fiamma of the Right that even though he does not understand the values of the thing that he saw in the right of hand of Kamijou Touma, it would have been best for him to assume that it was only a right hand that can negate supernatural powers. He tells Fiamma of the Right that he could not let that fact go, and had to appear because of it. Moreover, Aleister says that Touma is now beyond his grasp, and now his plans has to make a detour, telling Fiamma of the Right that because of this, he can apparently still feel anger. Fiamma of the Right then asks what was inside the right arm, to which Aleister says that he should know. He tells Fiamma of the Right that what he was planning to do was similar to his plans, only in the different format, to change the world by preparing a temple filled with strange power, drawing out the power of the right arm within that temple, and adjusting the thickness of the phase itself with that power. He tells Fiamma of the Right that if he looked at it in a different viewpoint, he should be able to understand the true nature of that power, and if he did, he would have reached his goal before he does so.
Fiamma was in the way. Aleister had come to utterly destroy even the slightest chance of his own plan being calculated out from the incomplete incident Fiamma had caused. As such, Fiamma would not even be allowed to be taken into custody by a magical organization. At that time, Fiamma came as close to the truth of the world as he ever had. Seeing and hearing Aleister Crowley, Fiamma of the Right says that when he sees him, he can feel the futility of his actions. He tells Aleister that they have the same look as he had, and that those who can truly save the world would not have that expression on his face, and that time and in that place, Kamijou Touma stood in a position where no one could overtake him.
Fiamma of the Right readies himself and summons once again his incomplete Holy Right, his Third Arm. Aleister shows no emotion, saying that the situation is futile, and simply summons something from his hand, the Blasting Rod. Regardless, Fiamma of the Right keeps his ground, saying that it is not an issue of whether it is futile or not. To protect the world that Kamijou Touma saved from being trampled, Fiamma of the Right challenges Aleister Crowley, and in an instant the clash, and Fiamma of the Right falls. Aleister glances down one final time and says that it was his mistake for analyzing that right hand, the Imagine Breaker, and even the One who Purifies God and Slays Demons using only at the level of Christianity.
Back in England, in St. George's Cathedral, due to his appearing, his wavelength has been detected. Laura Stuart gives off a twisted smile, seeing the opportunity to absorb Academy City and the science side, nay the entire world into her hands, with the use of the assets that they have acquired from the assassination of Aleister Crowley by the Anglican Church back in 1947.
Finally, despite Kamijou Touma being a core of his plans. Aleister refuses to move in order to save him after falling into the abyss of the Arctic Sea to defeat Archangel Gabriel, because a major deviation occurred in his plans centered on Touma. Aleister does not know how to correct the deviation, because he could not unravel all the conditions that have become complexly intertwined, as such he did not make any move.
Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no IndexEdit
- Main article: Homecoming Arc
Aleister refuses to secure Kamijou Touma after his return to Academy City, as he is too wrapped up in all the conditions that have become intertwined that causes the deviations in his plans. This fact is used by Leivinia Birdway, after her talk with Touma, Accelerator, and Shiage, and the destruction of Radiosonde Castle. She taunts Aleister for being unable to do anything due to the fact that the errors in his plans have exceeded acceptable range, and the fact that he does not want to cause further deviations in his plans. She points out that even GREMLIN has noticed this and has used it to their advantage.
She tells Aleister that she has studied thoroughly of his theories, and that back in World War III the old rules were removed from the world, including the ones he controlled, and that he no longer has control over it, and is unsure where the world is headed. Apparently perturbed by this, Aleister somehow uses technology to sever a part of Leivinia's hair. Despite this, Leivinia is just amused, pointing out that there was no reason for the strike to be a warning, and that he could have easily taken off her head.

Eve of the FestivalEdit
Reading Thoth 78 welcomes back someone who is supposedly Aleister Crowley, who accesses the AI to discuss about the mysterious being known as Fräulein Kreutune, who is the target of both GREMLIN and Ollerus' group, that was recently freed from the Windowless Building by the efforts of Kamijou Touma and Thor.
The AI warns that Fräulein will transform into a being that will completely overturn the concept of predator and prey if she eats Last Order's and hijack the Misaka Network and consumes enough information to satisfy her curiosity. It tells that in two hours, Fräulein will attain the properties required for her to eat a brain and absorption of its structure.
Magic God Othinus ArcEdit
- Main article: Magic God Othinus Arc
Roberto Katze says that he cannot contact Aleister Crowley to have Academy City join them in a general offensive against GREMLIN. Later, Elizard mentions on how even the Anglican Church are unable to contact him since the end of the War and even doubt if he is in the city at all.
In one of the worlds Othinus creates to torment Kamijou Touma, she mentions Aleister with his epithet the Silver Star, who is apparently directly tampering the "pure world" beyond all the filters, when telling on how Touma is lucky to experience the remaking of the world by her.
Later, after Touma manages to stop Othinus from killing herself and the end of the manhunt on them, Aleister himself appears in an unknown layer of the world where Othinus in spite of her tremendous power could not reach. Here, he comes upon "bizarre magicians" talking about what had transpired, to which he refers to as "GREMLIN". One of these magicians references his absence as of late, though states that Aleister may have been busy with a side job. Aleister says that he had to let the strength of the world handle Othinus running around free as he had something to prioritize in entering their "divine territory" as it wasn't easy. One of the magicians, referred to as "someone" with a hoarse voice, comments on how if Aleister turned his obsession in destroying magic in the right direction then he too would be part of GREMLIN. Aleister says that he made adjustments to himself that it would not happen, as such he can control something different than them who can only live in a distorted phase. The magician with the hoarse voice asks if science is really wonderful enough for Aleister to indulge himself to that extent. Aleister then comments on how even if took them an eternity, none of them would understand. He then asks if it has nothing to do with "the single remaining tear stain in his journal".
Aleister is silenced by this, and all remaining expression on his faced vanished as he calls upon his magic name Beast666 and draws out his magic staff. The magician are unperturbed, one of them comments on how is envious of his emotion, though says he should stick around as he says he is about to tie it all together. He tells him that Aiwass, the cornerstone of his plan that he tried so hard to raise is a complete failure and that Aleister will be at his wit's end before long. A moment later, Aleister attacks them.
Mental Out ArcEdit
- Main article: Mental Out Arc
Aleister Crowley returns to his Windowless Building in Academy City injured from his battle with the magic gods, where the battle had badly burned a third of his body. Aleister makes 72 requests to Kihara Noukan in eliminating groups or persons that have grew during his absence and refused to regroup. Aleister later monitors Noukan recently finishing his last request, defeating Shundou Toshizou.
Noukan later makes a request to communicate with Aleister to which the latter accepts. Noukan asks if his work has satisfied him, to which Aleister says that it is only the beginning. Noukan asks if Aleister has found something to make up for what had happened to him by fighting the magic gods. Aleister replies that it was necessary even if he had gained nothing, to which Noukan says that he has a habit of sounding rational when he's actually handling everything through emotion. Aleister retorts by paraphrasing Noukan's own words, that scientists must be romantics and they must always work to fill people with dreams. With a sigh, Noukan agrees as it is romance that separates men from beasts. Aleister asks if he is wrong, to which Noukan replies that he should ask the Heaven Canceller instead, his attending physician, but says if he has to give an answer as a Kihara, he says that what he is doing will definitely fall on the side of evil, a bland one at that. After Noukan looks wistfully on the starry sky, he is reminded of the world of magic. Noukan says that since he has returned order to his rule as he has tasked him, he requests that he should use the power he has returned to him to destroy all the irregularities known as magic.
St. Germain ArcEdit
- Main article: St. Germain Arc
Following the events at the Dianoid, Aleister communicates with High Priest, Nephthys, and Niang-Niang, the magic gods that have descended into the world of humans in Academy City after losing their Hidden World to Aleister. At first the gods mock and scorn Aleister due to their previous encounter but Aleister later shows to them that him fighting them and his reaction to their mocking him regarding the "tear-stained journal" was all but a ruse to allow him to weaken them.
He has spikes somehow skewer all three gods to make his point. Here, he reveals to the shocked magic gods that he changed the spell Zombie used to allow them to walk in the world of humans without destroying it. The magic gods do not believe him as he would have to deal with Zombie in order to do so. At that moment, Kihara Noukan catapults the crucified body of Zombie before the other magic gods, proving to them that Aleister Crowley should not be taken lightly.

As the High Priest attempts to crash the Arrowhead Comet into Academy City, Kihara Noukan forms a direct connection to Aleister through the Anti-Art Attachment and channels his willpower in a form which destroys the Magic God. Before he dies, the High Priest receives a message from Aleister, conveyed by Noukan, asking him whether he remembers the life that was taken by the Magic Gods, whether he remembers his daughter's name. The High Priest remembers but dies before he can say sorry.
After Noukan kills the High Priest and destroys the Arrowhead Comet, Aleister congratulates him for making short work of Gremlin, but after being told that Noukan had only defeated the High Priest, realizes that someone else unknown to them defeated the rest of the Magic Gods.
World Rejecter ArcEdit
- Main article: World Rejecter Arc
That night, Aleister overhauls the Anti-Art Attachment for Noukan's battle with Kamisato Kakeru. However during his conversation with Noukan, he implies that Noukan wouldn't be able to win with it, apologizing as he does so. Knowing it could be the last time they speak, Noukan asks Aleister not to abandon his humanity, knowing that there were people who walked by his side because they were drawn by it.
Following the battle between Kihara Noukan and Kamisato Kakeru, in which the conflict in Aleister's heart allowed World Rejecter to erase the Anti-Art Attachment and Noukan was left fatally injured and placed into cold sleep by Kihara Yuiitsu, Aleister's plan is back on track but Aleister himself truly curses it for the first time, realizing this was little different from what the Magic Gods he hated did.
- Main article: Salome Arc
On December 4th, after having Kihara Enshuu help her analysis, Yuiitsu realized that Aleister had used the Archetype Controller on her, making her put herself in a prison. The next night, after stealing World Rejecter and having a fight with Kamijou Touma, Salome and Misaka Mikoto, which had ended with Mikoto encountering the Anti-Art Attachment and forced to use it to save Touma, Yuiitsu turned her attention to the Windowless Building and the one who had sent Noukan to his fate. As she was about to use World Rejecter, Aleister appeared behind her and threw her against a nearby wind turbine, telling her that she could try to target him but told her to complete her job first as it would be rude to Noukan not to given his sacrifice.
After saying that he might as well come out of his safe zone as there was no way back for him, he mentioned the new threat that had been created by Mikoto coming into contact with the Anti-Art Attachment, one which would need eliminating if it would endanger the plan. On being asked by Yuiitsu about dealing with the two threats given the state of the game board, Aleister told Yuiitsu to choose one and he would deal with the other. He then turned his attention towards Laura Stuart, who was spying on him from afar, and asked the 'bitch' if she wanted to be cursed to death right that instant.
Kamisato Rescue ArcEdit

After Yuiitsu had dealt with Kamisato Kakeru, leading him to be exiled by his own World Rejecter, Aleister then moved to deal with Mikoto, having waited for the moment to act during the heat wave and Element infestation. When Touma, Mikoto, Karasuma Fran and Toyama Luca were examining the core of the original A.A.A., Aleister used a curse-reversal circle to remotely direct a lethal curse onto Mikoto. Early on December 10th, he was confronted by the former 'ruler' of the Trial shelter, crushing his head after hearing what he had to say. He later moved to deal with Fran after she was revealed as a spy for the Anglican Church, but was shot by Tsuchimikado Motoharu for breaking his promise to protect his sister, though he wasn't killed.

The Second Friday of OctoberEdit
The second Friday of October of the current year of the Story Timeline Misaka Tabigake contacts Aleister Crowley on how he gathered the remaining Gemstones in the world in Academy City, and told him that he would have preferred a least violent approach, to which Aleister responds that the violent one was cheaper. Tabigake then asks Aleister on how he has been revealed of reports that the attacks on the Gemstone facilities in the world were caused by persons who looks like his daughter. Aleister is intrigued by this and before he could respond, Tabigake cuts him off and says that whatever he says is fine, because he can't trust what Aleister will say in the first place. However, Tabigake warns him that if he does anything to his wife or daughter, he questions what would happen if he found out, and asks him further what it means to make an enemy of a father. Aleister responds nonchalantly, asking how a mere freelancer like him attack the Chairman of Academy City's Board of Directors.
He responds that although it is true that there isn't anything in the world that can take him out in one blow, however, he points out that it is his job to find out what the world lacks. He tells Aleister that he will find the thing that world lacks, which is the object that can take him out in one blow, and with that, their dangerous exchange is over.

In his first appearance in the Toaru Kagaku no Railgun sidestory, Aleister Crowley himself contacts the management of Liberal Arts City. The management concludes that it was Aleister who put pressure on the United States military from sending reinforcements to the city. A member of the management asks if the Mixcoatls came from Academy City, to which Aleister denies it. Aleister tells them that they have come across one of the truths of the world, a world that their likes cannot understand. Finally, he asks if Liberal Arts City could play it off as an act if it were to turn into floating scraps in the sea, at the same time as this, HsB-02 supersonic bombers prepare to mobilize from School District 23.

Aleister Crowley plays the role of "school board chairman" of Touma's school in this short parody story. He first appears during Touma's ranting on Suzushina Yuriko, basically Accelerator in drag, asking why they're not in class. When Touma sees him for the first time, Touma punches him several times as he believes if he defeated him there it would solve everything in a global scale. After defeating him, Touma asks if it brought peace to the world, leading to Accelerator, or Suzushina in this case, to ask if that is how Touma usually does things.

He appears at the very end of the movie, having a meeting with Laura Stuart. Here, she asks of the true nature of Meigo Arisa and Shutaura Sequenzia, to which Aleister gives his own hypothesis on the nature of the Miracle of 88 and the birth of Arisa, as well as the Miracle of Endymion. In the end, he notes on how Ladylee Tangleroad made an interesting experiment, but notes on how it must be misfortune that keeps her alive.
Dengeki Gakuen RPG: Cross of VenusEdit
Aleister appears as the last secret boss of the game. After beating Accelerator, Aleister appears in one of the shops. Here, he is outside of his tube and can stand upright. Here, he notices that the world he is in is a parallel world, and nothing seems different from it. However, he then says that if he inspects the physical laws of the parallel world, he may have an idea how to shorten his plans.
During the battle, Aleister will teleport around the battlefield, and would then either fire three diagonal pointing lasers or use a pressure-like attack from afar. When he is damaged enough, Aleister will try to summon Fuse Kazakiri to rain wings of light upon the player character. After being defeated, he remains unperturbed by the events of his defeat, noting that the battle has provided him with excellent data for analysis, then thanks the player for his time and then disappear.
Aleister is referred to as the greatest magician in history, though little was initially shown to back up this claim, with him always being shown to having others or technology to do important tasks. He is said to have been known for his ability to spiritually knock people to the ground, through the use of imitative magic without preparation. However, it has been hinted that Aleister is immune to Teleport attacks through either the use of magic or technology. Furthermore, through the use of technology, Aleister has the apparent ability to sever solid objects, through how much an extent is unknown, though it can be assumed that he can easily sever a man's head if he wanted to.
When talking to the other Magic Gods, or bizarre magicians as he refers to them, he says that he "let" the world's strength handle Othinus, implying that he can handle Othinus on his own. His magic is such that he has enough confidence to attack the magic gods of that realm, and with the Magic God's parameters at hand, he was capable of swapping out the spell they used to enter the world with one which weakened them without them realizing until it had been embedded. His willpower, channeled through Kihara Noukan's Anti-Art Attachment, has been shown to take a strange form which is capable of killing a Magic God.
Aleister's statements indicate that he has possessed a method of separating one's memories from their personality at least since his time with the Golden Dawn. He also possesses ways of calling in the unheard of, using combinations of existing methods, having experimented in summoning a great demon never before seen and not mentioned in any holy text during his time in Egypt, and said to learn this method to break through the common view of the world with something which could be found anywhere.
State of ExistenceEdit
Likely through years of research and discipline, Aleister has achieved a higher form of existence, allowing him to exist in two places at a time, and is referred to as being in a different dimension.
In this state, Aleister's body can be injured, however he cannot be killed as simply as a normal person. After Tsuchimikado Motoharu shot him multiple times, he bled and collapsed like a normal person, but Karasuma Fran sensed a kind of invisible miasma escaping the supposedly lifeless and unmoving corpse with murderous intent and could tell with certainty that he could reboot himself at any time.
Aleister had the potential and opportunity to become a Magic God, however he rejected becoming one and choose to remain "human" instead, taking measures to make sure that he would not become a Magic God.
It is later revealed that Aleister has brought forth many possible versions of himself and sealed them all within his body. During various times Aleister has emerged, such as the time with Fiamma, a momentarily branched-off alternative version of himself appeared and disappeared in an instant, in a manner which Aleister compared to the concept of faxing. Following his battle with Kamijou Touma and the subsequent attack by Coronzon, the many possible versions of Aleister were released into the world. Aleister said that this was bound to happen from the moment he left his life support device to deal with the problems resulting from the actions of Kihara Yuiitsu and Karasuma Fran, and even if Touma and Coronzon had not appeared, he would have branched out almost endlessly, creating every version of himself born from the various 'ifs'.
According to Tree Diagram and Reading Thoth 78, the number of options available to Aleister and the number of branches they would lead to are 1,083,092,867. Though Aleister mentioned that once he brought multiple versions of himself into the world it became apparent they would only clash and not be expected to work together if not contained, after being released from being sealed within his single body, the possible versions of himself have displayed a high degree of coordination, speaking and acting together. Many of the alternative versions embody the various impressions left from Aleister's appearance; man, woman, adult, child, saint, sinner, etc, isolated and brought to life. These manifested possibilities formed an army and came to be referred to as Crowley's Hazards.
- Main article: Spiritual Tripping
Aleister's primary combat magic is Spiritual Tripping (霊的蹴たぐり Reiteki Ketaguri?), a technique used by his teacher Allan Bennett, which involves the users linking themselves to targets and forcing images into their mind in order to manifest illusionary weapons which have the same effects on the target as a real one would have.
When using this magic, Aleister forms a gesture relating to the weapon he wishes to use against his target. The visual is used to drive an image into the target's mind and create a foothold to influence their thoughts, having them picture the weapon. Several small numbers scatter from his hand like sparks, then the indicated weapon manifests, though it is only visible to the one who is being targeted. As noted by Aleister himself, using such exchanges to seal off an opponent's options and guide their thoughts into a dead end is a fundamental part of magical combat, fundamentals being something he places great emphasis on as an expert. Aleister's top-rate skill is such that he can instill an image with details which would normally be impossible to tell from a simple gesture (e.g. color, shape, weight, texture, sheen, hardness, follow-ons), even if the image is that of something that the target has never seen before. In order for Spiritual Tripping to be effective, the target has to witness the gestures the user makes and has to be able to 'picture' the image in their mind. If the target's perception is distorted, there is a chance that Spiritual Tripping may not function properly.
The illusionary weapons only affect the intended targets and as such, will not affect or be affected by obstacles or surroundings (for example, if a gun is used to shoot a target inside a building from the outside through a window, the physical distance and atmospheric conditions won't change the accuracy of the shot, and the shot will pass through without breaking the window), through the movements of the target as a result of the attack will affect their surroundings as normal. Even if a Spiritual Tripping attack hits a target with enough destructive power to destroy the world several times over, only they will be affected by it. Though normal obstacles won't impede Spiritual Tripping attacks, it is still possible to intercept them through magical means and Imagine Breaker.
Rooted in the target's imagination, Spiritual Tripping draws out destructive power from their own mind. As such, it works well with the Blasting Rod, which amplifies magic to ten times what the target imagines it to be.
Weapons Aleister has manifested using this magic and their associated numbers include:
- Flintlock pistol: 32, 30, 10
- Claymore: 1, 27, 5
- Rapier: 13, 5, 32
- Shields, Bows: Numbers not known.
- Big Bang Bomb (ビッグバン爆弾 Bigguban Bakudan?): Number not known. An imaginary aerial support weapon with the destructive power found at the creation of the universe, used by Aleister through the gesture of raising a hand to mime peering through a pair of military binoculars used to designate attack coordinates via laser or GPS.
- Gamma knife: Number not known.
- Gold staff with a spherical head: Number not known. Symbolizes the sun.
- Silver scythe: Number not known. Symbolizes the moon.
Aside from the aforementioned weapons, Aleister suggested the forcibly implanted imagination from Spiritual Tripping could be used for surgical tools and methods, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, blood tests, gas chromatography, ultrasound, centrifuges, transmission electron microscopes, polymerase chain reaction DNA tests and a cyclotron particle accelerator.
Aleister Crowley has the Archetype Controller (
For example, he can change the current archetype of Academy City that could be called as man's worship of science into an archetype that science is heretical. Kihara Noukan states that this power is so great that despite leaving the magic side, he is still the archetype of modern Western magic of the Golden period and are still strongly influenced by him to this day. Kihara Yuiitsu, herself, is the one who refers to Aleister as the "Archetype Controller" and because of that key factor, she sees him as an insurmountable being, with Noukan commenting that fighting him would result in a fate worse than death for them.
The nightmarish culmination of Aleister's work, the Archetype Controller allows him to divide portions of humanity (be it between good and evil, like and dislike, east and west, north and south, capitalist and socialist, or any other from of division) and pit them against each other, twisting definitions to crush the minority. However there are some methods which can apparently counteract its influence. In the case of Tsuchimikado Motoharu, he is a double spy on both the Magic Side and the Science Side; when he attacked Aleister after breaking the promise between them, Aleister could turn him towards one side to rob him of the other, but the first side, magician or esper, would still move to kill. Yuiitsu also considered that if all of humanity were to become Kiharas, as per her plan, they would all be the same and the Archetype Controller wouldn't be able to work on them as before.
Aleister apparently made use of the Archetype Controller in order to make Kihara Enshuu hole up inside a prison like it was a luxury hotel while thinking it was her own idea, overturning her murderous schedule and joy of being needed, something which Yuiitsu considered would have normally been incredibly difficult.
- Main article: Curse
Aleister is a proficient user of curses, capable of utilizing a variety of lethal and debilitating curses. During the destruction of the Golden Dawn, the magicians who survived being struck down by Aleister were said to bear a curse that took away their possibilities for success in life, dooming their choices to end in failure for the rest of their lives.
Among the pieces of magic Aleister has created which are viewed as great achievements, there is one based on perhaps the most famous magic phrase in the world, Abracadabra (アブラカダブラ?). Though it is well known in an occult-mocking context, it is more often included in magic circles and charms than spoken incantations. The effects are that of a curse reversal (呪詛返し Juso-gaeshi?); when an enemy casts a curse, it will divert or send it back at the enemy. As such it is widely known as a protective charm.
However Aleister makes use of it in a different manner, having found a new interpretation and worked it into his magical system. His usage makes use of the curvature of a curse; a concept arising in many cultures, with examples such as having a doll taking the target's place or the target diverting their enemy's aim by escaping inside a magic circle drawn on the ground. It also uses the countless numbers of existing curses, which are travelling across the world like high-speed wireless internet connections. Similar to how a curved light-reflecting mirror can focus light on a single point, using supposedly harmless sunlight to start fires, the curse reversal is instead used to capture an existing curse, slightly twist it and redirect it onto a target. As he is using someone else's curse, the curse can't be traced back to him and he doesn't need to refine magic power to make use of it.
In the case of curse cast on Misaka Mikoto, the magic circle consists of an upside-down triangle with the letters of Abracadabra arranged in a regular fashion. The true name given to the curse-reversal circle says the following; "I supply lightning for thy death" (汝の死に雷光を与えよ Nanji no shi ni raikō o ataeyo?). When the curse hit, Mikoto was hit as though struck by lightning, with severe bleeding and convulsions.
Karma is carried by a pair of constructs which spawned in the vicinity of a shadowy, cursed magical sword, which was embedded into Tsuchimikado Maika's chest. The constructs initially consist of either a silver handcuff-like ring or a device resembling a bicycle (with a maximum of one of each at a time) which drop down near the sword, then extend chains to form a vaguely humanoid frame which is then filled with a rainbow light in place of flesh. If either is destroyed, another will spawn to take its place, and if one moves out of range of its target and can no longer pursue it, it will vanish to conserve the stock.
For the chain beasts, the gear symbolizes the sun, male and acceleration, while the handcuff viewed as a ring represents the moon, female and stagnation. The two work in symmetry to draw out a non-existent element. As described in Book 4 and Liber 777, the chain symbolic weapon is used to bind wandering thoughts and unlike a fire wand or wind dagger, is not a physical tool but a way for the spell user to gain subconscious control. The cuff's chain is to bind and prevent movement while the gear's chain is to carry force to accelerate movement. Working in tandem to accelerate or stagnate, with the gear moving forward and the cuff opening and closing, they can shift the color schemes pictured in opponents' hearts and disrupt their spells which have a color component. They can also bend the light around their body to conceal things in or behind them.
The concept of karma involves one's own actions inviting the result they will receive. An example of karmic retribution would be killing a person and their child subsequently pursuing you to take revenge. If a chain beast is destroyed, the one who destroyed them bears the karma of doing so. This manifests as a vague haze with the same rainbow coloration, which seeps out of the air and vanishes as it thinly surrounds the perpetrator. The more beasts are destroyed, the more karma is gathered, becoming stronger and thicker, with the negative effects growing more apparent as it snowballs. Even destroying the karma such as with Imagine Breaker will cause one to bear the karma of killing karma.
- Main article: Thelema
One of Aleister Crowley's key accomplishments is the creation of the religion, school of thought and magical format, known as Thelema. Heavily influenced by Aleister's desire to find the proper rules and answers that the god who created the world could not, as well as his journey to Egypt and his contact with the entity Aiwass, it is derived from Aleister's research and the secrets he learned from Aiwass, recorded in Thelema's central tennet, the Book of the Law. Having devised and conveyed the system, Aleister is a master of its applications and it forms a key part of his plan.
A key concept in Thelema is the Aeons; Aeons (
A number of Aleister's displayed capabilities might fall under the field of Thelema, however for most of them this hasn't been verified at present. Methods applied by Aleister which are known to belong to Thelema include:
- The methods that he had implemented for the Power Curriculum Program, the use of drugs in adolescents to induce paranormal phenomena, were revealed to be derived from the Temple of Thelema.
- The core of the Anti-Art Attachment, an energy transfer device which allows the wielder to access Aleister's power and techniques, which was devised by Aleister, incorporates a number of Thelemic elements, including a curse reversal triangle with 'Abrahadabra'.
Having a strong knowledge of the phases as well as the 'sparks' and 'spray' produced as they collide, Aleister has developed a technique to direct the sparks and spray produced from the phase collisions resulting from his own use of magic, and have them strike opponents. He is also capable of absorbing the spray from that magic recoil into his body, injuring himself but preventing others from being affected by the negative effects.
He was capable of detecting and breaking into the Hidden World of the true Gremlin, which even Magic God Othinus was unable to detect and breach as she manipulated the world's phases. He has also devised a large-scale ceremony in order to destroy the phases through Aiwass's power and position as an angel from the bottommost layer above the Pure World.
The Crowley's Hazards (クロウリーズ・ハザード Kurourīzu Hazādo?) are manifested 'what if' possibilities of Aleister Crowley, which he had previously brought forth and subsequently bound to his body. Following the events of December 11th, these alternative Crowleys were released into the world and became a disaster bearing his name.
Some of these parallel Crowleys have relatively normal human appearances but many of the others have inhuman and monstrous forms. However, none of them can be said to be truly normal possibilities - they are Aleister Crowley after all. As well as possessing various appearances, the Crowley's Hazards also possess varying abilities. Some of them have mastered magic like the prime Aleister while others have given up on it altogether. Although they have been brought forth through abnormal means and branched out from many "what if" possibilities, their existences will not be negated by the Imagine Breaker.
The prime Aleister is capable of controlling the bizarre Crowleys to a certain extent, and has no compunctions about killing them and using them to take the recoil from magic. Their deaths act as a blood sacrifice and have the effect of defragging and optimizing the prime Aleister.
Some of the manifested Crowleys include:

Aleister is capable of using a flying broom like that of a Witch and one of his alternative possibilities, the prime Aleister following the possibility diffusion and the original body's infestation, makes use of one.
Having developed the foundation of modern Western magic, Aleister is familiar with its workings and can interfere with any spells constructed based on an understanding made through that filter, neutralizing them or causing them to backfire. This is the primary reason he can fly through magic without fear of being brought down, as the common anti-flight spells were constructed in this format. He is also skilled using modern Western magic, as seen with the use of a city-scale Banner of the West against Coronzon.
Aleister is experienced in the use of blood sacrifices in magic, a sacrifice which he has also referred to his Blood Sign (血の供儀 Chi no Kyōgi?). In the past, a blood sacrifice was used to empower the curse which he used to destroy the Golden Dawn. During the attack on the British Commonwealth by the Crowley's Hazards following their diffusion, the deaths of the Crowley's Hazards were used as a planet-wide blood sacrifice to defrag the prime Aleister and optimize her magical power like a superconductor. During this process, a red haze manifested around the prime Aleister which could form a blood red magic circle as a shield capable of deflecting attacks at supersonic speeds and scattering their power, or extend from her palm like a spear to pierce an opponent.
- Blasting Rod (
衝撃の杖Shōgeki no Tsue (Burasutingu Rōdo)?, lit. "Cane of Impact"): A spiritual item once wielded by Aleister's teacher, Allan Bennett, with the power to amplify the effects of magic to ten times what the target thinks it will be.

Character Art DesignsEdit
Aleister Crowley's fitting design has remained static. Haimura designed Aleister to be something "like an alien in human skin."
- (To the management of Liberal Arts City from Railgun SS1) "Oh, right. I have a question for you... If Liberal Arts City itself were to be turned to scraps floating in the sea, would you be able to play that off as a show?"
- (To Stiyl Magnus from Volume 2) "If Deep Blood proves the existence of vampires, what does the Imagine Breaker prove?"
- (From Volume 6) "Hm, all the illusions that I believed in were destroyed a long time ago."
- (From Volume 9) "...Oh, so now, we'll just have to use that boy as a guide then."
- (To Aiwass from Volume 19) "I will use anything I can. That includes you. You may find it amusing that there are slight errors in my plan, but let me tell you something. ...There is no guarantee that your absolute superiority will last forever"
- (To Fiamma of the Right from Volume 22) "...You tried to explain that right hand, Imagine Breaker…and even the One Who Purifies God using only something at the level of Christianity. That was your mistake."
- (To High Priest, conveyed by Kihara Noukan, from NT 13) “Do you remember the life that was taken by destiny as if to smash the childish gears of a desire to make the world a better place and to save every last member of the human race? Do you remember my daughter’s name?”
- (Towards Laura Stuart, from NT15)"What do you think you’re looking at, you bitch? Do you want me to curse you to death right this instant?” (……何見てんだアバズレ。今すぐここで呪殺でもして欲しいのか …… Nani mitenda abazure. Ima sugu koko de jusatsu demo shite hoshī no ka??)
- Unlike other magicians, Aleister's magic name contains an English word instead of a Latin word.
