Aogami Pierce (青髪 ピアス Aogami Piasu?) is a side character in Toaru Majutsu no Index. He is an esper of a yet-unknown level and is a friend and fellow classmate of both Kamijou Touma and Tsuchimikado Motoharu.
Background
Aogami, Touma, and Motoharu make up the "idiot trio" of their class (クラスの三バカ lit "the three idiots of the class", also known as デルタフォース or delta force), the reason being that not only at least two of them are Level 0 but also that the three of them have the poorest grades in the class and often have to do remedial lessons. Despite his low academic grades, Aogami is surprisingly the class representative for Touma and Motoharu's class[1]. His otaku knowledge is unmatched, and he has a fetish for just about any kind of girl, easily using more than half a page of dengeki bunko when describing his prefered type(s) of girl. He also very agile and quick, as shown when he is able to avoid many esper attacks in the first match of Daihaseisai.
Personality
He doesn't live in a dorm like Touma and Motoharu but upstairs in a bakery shop; Touma suspects the reason to be the uniforms for that shop being similar to maid uniforms. He is a self-admitted pervert, lolicon, stalker, and masochist as well as numerous other fetishes, to the point where the Index Manga 5.5 labeled him as "Fetish King". Expanding on this, he also intentionally does not do his homework so that he can receive punishment from his teacher Tsukuyomi Komoe. He apparently knows Komoe's address, as Touma got this piece of information from him in Volume 1.
His future aspiration is "to become popular". He even goes as far as to write that on the future survey of his class.
His name literally means blue hair (青髪?) and piercings (ピアス?); his real name hasn't been revealed yet.
Chronology
He makes his first appearance in volume 1 attending supplementary lessons with Touma. In volume 2 he mooches off Touma in order to get a free meal. In volume 4 during the Angel Fall swap Index takes on his appearance, and Touma strangles Index/Aogami as a result. In Volume 5, He is with Touma and Tsuchimikado before Misaka tackles Touma and they go out on a pretend date.During Daihaseisai he takes part in the Pole Assault where he effortlessly dodges attacks and gets hit because Touma throws him off, with an off-handed comment.
Trivia
- Touma before losing his memories mentions that Aogami Pierce is a tough person who can take care of himself, like Misaka Mikoto.
- He fakes a kansai accent, fact that prompts Touma to call him "fake kansai jin" in more than one opportunity.
- His constant blabbering about anime and manga can become so intrincated that end up becoming something incomprehensible even for someone who is really into a lot of anime and manga.
- Within his jokes he has referenced many mishaps that Touma is going to encounter or has encountered already; even those that he keeps a secret. It is unknown if this is the author's sense of irony or if Aogami actually has a way of knowing what exactly is going on. Motoharu has done that as well, but it is clear that he knows about Academy City's secrets.
- He knows the tune that Index usually hums and has been shown doing the same.
