Advanced Education Department

The facility before its abandonment.

The Advanced Education Department (先進教育局 Senshin Kyōiku-kyoku?, lit. "Advanced Education Bureau") is a now-abandoned establishment in Academy City that was used to educate and facilitate the care of Child Errors during its time in operation. Located in School District 13,[1] it is a large facility,[2] with an open space that the Child Errors had used to play on. It also has a large laboratory for experiments, as well as classrooms and showers for children.[3]

Background[]

Under the supervision of Kihara Gensei, Kiyama Harumi, who had gotten a license to teach, was tasked with teaching Child Errors so that they can be prepared for the upcoming experiment on controlling espers' AIM diffusion fields. However, the experiment went awry, putting the children into a comatose state. No immediate medical assistance was given to the children after the experiment, as Gensei had forced everyone to collect the data gathered from it and keep quiet on what had transpired. Because of these events, Kiyama Harumi quit the facility, and the children were sent to various hospitals around Academy City.[3] It is later revealed that the experiment was a cover-up by Gensei; its true nature was to analyze the nature of out-of-control espers and further his research on the Crystallized Esper Essence.[2]
